Is there a way to leave the car running and lock the doors at the same time?
My dog is in the car with me a lot in the summer, but sometimes I have to stop to go to the store, etc., but I can’t leave him in the car without air conditioning. I know if I turn the car off, leave it and then do a remote start it will work, but only for a few minutes and I don’t want to risk it turning off.

The Victorian Parliament could have someone just open your door and drive away. With one-touch start, you can drive away as soon as the engine starts. Even if the key is out of the starting range, the engine will keep running and you can continue driving. This feature allows you to drive the car even if the Phob battery is dead.

2022 xle hybrid. As far as I know, I can only start it with the remote control. I thought it was supposed to run for 10 minutes, but it doesn’t seem to run that long.
Did you add a remote start feature? I know some cars have the ability to hold down the lock button, but mine doesn’t. Manual locking may be the only option.
I added it, it was added when I ordered it and the dealer installed it when it arrived. I don’t really understand the terminology, but I assume it’s still an aftermarket product? It works with the remote, but I don’t think I have the ability to use the app.
One feature I really hate is that the doors automatically lock if you don’t load the items you need fast enough (bad knees). It often takes me 3 trips home to get my stuff, so if I’m slow, the doors usually auto-lock on the 3rd trip, even if the car isn’t running. Does anyone know how to disable this feature?
Wait a minute. Can you explain what you are doing when you lock the doors? My car never locks itself. I also have a ’17 Limited Edition Hybrid.
My car does the same thing! I thought it was in case I accidentally left it unlocked. I’ve learned to carry my keys with me now because too many times I’ve left the house with something and the car was already locked.
Just leave it on, take your key fob, and lock it with your key.

Yes and no. You can’t see the keyhole from inside or outside the car.

You can lock the doors with a different door key. I do this occasionally on other cars. A good anti-theft company can also install a disable switch to prevent vehicle theft.
I still use the key to my car, so I leave the car on all the time and then lock it manually with the other key.

I think if you leave the car running all the time and then take the key fob with you. You can lock the car with the key fob and then walk away and the car will stay locked and running. I could be wrong, I think my 2018 model does this.

It kind of sucks. It’s like if I want to keep my car running all the time to keep it hot in the winter or cold in the summer, I’m putting myself at risk of having something stolen from the car.

My 17 unlocks immediately if you leave the engine running and it beeps really loud.
Mine does the same thing. In fact, I thought it was still locked at first until I got back and realized it was unlocked. I was only gone two minutes, but that was enough.

What does a pet dog do when it is in the car? I use this and it works. It doesn’t cool the whole car. It is enough to keep the crate cool on the hottest days when the hose is attached to the crate. It also makes a big difference in the interior temperature of the car when you use ceramic tint.

If it moves to another part of the car when you’re not there, it won’t be cool enough. If it stays in the hatch area and the car has ceramic insulation, it might be better. It’s the only device I’ve seen that controls the heat generated by cooling without blowing it into the environment.

What I do is take my key fob, while the car is moving, close all the doors, open the front window and close the door.

I think that’s what I was using. My car did not come with this device, but I had the dealer install it on my car.
I did not have Toyota install it. They wanted too much money for the remote start unit I installed on my wife’s 2015 rav4 and my 2021 rav4. It only cost $870.
If you have remote start (if I understand your post) you should be able to do a starter takeover. If you leave the key in the ignition with the engine running and press the sequence that triggers the remote start, it should flash at you to indicate that it is being remote controlled.
As long as your foot is not on the brake and the car is parked in a space, turning the ignition off and removing the key will keep the car running. This way, you can use the remote start time to go shopping at the store.
I don’t think I have anywhere else to put the key except push start.
Okay. Then I guess you should start it with the push button first, then press the start button on the remote and walk away from the vehicle. Don’t press the brake pedal after you start the car or it will get in the way of the remote. You should be able to lock and unlock the car with the remote.
The aftermarket remote starts, but usually shuts off after 20 minutes. Or get another key
